Expedition to a primeval forest
Nysa – Bia?a Nyska
The expedition will take tourists several hundred years back to the time when the area was covered with primeval forests.
The route starts in Nysa from where it takes hikers to the oldest village in Silesia - Bia?a Nyska with a number of places of historical interest. These include an obelisk raised in 1945 to commemorate soldiers of the Red Army; St. John the Evangelist Church and a medieval penitential cross in the inner side of the church wall. The route continues to Morów and turns to the left (despite the main road turning in the opposite direction) to a ford across the River Mora crossed by a footbridge. The route leads tourists into a forest where horse riders from a horse stud in nearby Morów frequently take their rides. The route winds from the right to the left passing by huge anthills and, after leaving the forest, turns left and reaches the Przy??k reserve, with a variety of tree, shrub and protected plant species, established in 1952. The route continues to Markowice and ??czki. At the crossroads tourists may choose to turn left to explore an abandoned quarry filled with water – nature itself has contributed to its transformation into an enchanting forest lake. The route however continues to run straight to Morów, past I?awa with the 19th-century St. Helen’s Chapel on the left. In Morów tourists may visit a Renaissance manor house dating from the 16th century, converted in 19th century into a granary. Then, already outside the village, the route turns left and leads under a railway viaduct, along the River Mora, passing by a forester’s lodge and a potable water intake for Nysa on river Bia?a. Hikers head to a bridge on river Bia?a and turn back to Nysa.
