Tu?owickie Ponds and Niemodli?skie Ponds
In terms of the surface area and the number of ponds, the Tu?owice and Niemodlin region among the most abundant ones in the Opolskie Region. The ponds are concentrated mainly in the western and north-eastern part of the Niemodli?skie Woods Protected Landscape Area. All the still waters are of anthropogenic nature (post-exploitation workings of morass ores). Presently, most of them are used for fishing purposes. There are, in the western part of the Niemodli?skie Woods Protected Landscape Area, over a dozen ponds with surface areas of at least 10 ha:

• Olszowy - 35.2 ha
• Pustelnik - 32.5 ha

• Nowy - 12.8 ha
• Zofia - 12 ha
• Tu?owicki-Hutnik - 10 ha
• Ch?opski - 10 ha
• Górny - ca. 10 ha.
The importance of the ponds to the biodiversity of the Niemodli?skie Woods Protected Landscape Area is because of their substantial quantity and the favourable location

Tu?owickie Ponds and Niemodli?skie Ponds are among the biggest pond complexes of the Opolskie Region. Among them are lakes with areas in excess of 100 ha. Most of them are habitats of endangered species of birds, e.g. the white-tailed eagle, bittern, black stork, ferruginous duck, black kite, corn crake, crane or common snipes.
