Tu?owice-Skarbiszowice-Szyd?ów-Tu?owice, Tu?owice Municipality
Walking and cycling route, Marked green, 16 km long. Difficulty level: easy.
The “Recesses” route covers the following points: 1. The mill and mill stream in Tu?owice –the former water mill was built most probably in 1762. It is a multi-storey building set on stone cellars, being an architectural monument. Just next to the mill, there is a bald cypress – a rarity in Poland. 2. Bald cypress – a tree, being around 160 years old, which, unlike other conifers, shreds its needles for winter together with sprouts. Moreover, the bald cypress produces so called pneumatophores – the root bends under the surface like a node and produces a torose callus serving for supplying air to the plant. The Tu?owice specimen is 378 cm in circumference and 28 metres in height – it belongs with the three oldest trees of that species growing in Poland. 3. Barracks. 4. Panorama of Skarbiszowice. 5. Szyd?ów – the second in terms of size in the municipality. Szyd?ów is dissected by ecological routes. 6. Kozia Góra (Goat Mountain). 7. Shooting Range in Skarbiszowice – currently neglected range, used by hunters and uniformed services, located in natural, favourable surroundings suitable for the sport. 8. Skarbiszowice. 9. Tu?owice Ma?e – a hamlet of Tu?owice famous for the ironworks formerly called “Popió?” (Cinder), in 1822 renamed “Teresa”. Currently, a cast iron foundry exists here – “Ekopol Opolski”. 10. Hutnik Pond – since 1792 the final communication link for the floated timber and floated coal peat extracted from the Tu?owice forests. The route led through floatage channels and the ?cinawa River to the ironworks in Popiele. Nowadays, the surface area of the pond is around 20 ha. Hutnik Pond is first of all a place willingly visited by anglers. 11. Tu?owice.
