short description:

Tourist cycle route leading through the most attractive places in the Opava mountains.

detailed description:

It was established in 1998. It encompasses two sections making up a 40-kilometre route in two directions – to Prudnik and to S?awniowice. Along its entire length the route is marked with metal plates with a bicycle symbol. The section to Prudnik leads along the most picturesque roads through the Opava Mountains. The central point of the route is the square with Cupid, provided with a map of the entire route, in the spa district of G?ucho?azy. Having gone along Parkowa, Chopina, Kar?owicza and Lompy streets, cyclists ride on to a provincial road leading to the border crossing point in Konradów, and just before the very border crossing point they turn left to Konradów. This section offers a beautiful panorama of the Opava mountains. The next stop along the trail is the village of Jarno?tówek – a holiday destination located at the foot of the Biskupia Kopa mountain in a picturesque gorge of Z?oty Potok (with a neo-Romanesque church dating from 1907, and an open flood-control dam). The trail continues to run along the Z?oty Potok stream and passes by the seat of Directorate of the Board of the Opole Landscape Parks in Pokrzywna. Pokrzywna is another holiday destination with holiday centres, summer camps and camping sites. Past the "Z?oty Potok centre" the route turns right to a road leading to D?bowiec and Prudnik. The second section (18 km) leading to the small-scale cross-border traffic in S?awniowice also starts at the Cupid square. It continues over a “suspension bridge” (the bridge should be crossed on foot with the bicycle being wheeled by hand), along Andersa, Kraszewskiego and ?widnicka streets. The trail escapes from the urban area into the countryside where cyclists enjoy a beautiful view of the entire vicinity of the Jeseniky Mountains and the Nysa land. This scenic route leads cyclists through such destinations as Giera?cice, Biskupów and Burgrabice (with churches dating from the 16th and 17th centuries worth visiting) as far as to S?awniowice and the small-scale cross-border traffic.
