As a regional museum, it collects, conserves, researches and exhibits cultural goods from the Kluczbork region and the northern Opole region from the fields of archaeology, history and ethnography, with particular emphasis on beekeeping. Moreover, the museum has a collection of documents related to current events in the region and supplementary exhibits. Its archives contain beekeeping illustrations and photographs as well as photographic materials concerning the museum and the region. Its specialist collection, counting approx. 5 thousand volumes, is accessible to the public. The museum is involved in educational activities, presenting both its own collections and various periodical exhibitions on loan from other museums, institutions, associations and private collectors. It also organises museum lessons, events and competitions. The rooms on the second floor house a permanent exhibition entitled "Beekeeping now and then", which presents the history of beekeeping from the oldest to modern times and focuses on the role and apicultural achievements of Dr Rev. Jan Dzierżon.
