Street procession of Catholic worshippers to four altars
The Corpus Christi ceremony always takes place in June. It starts at 8:30 with the Holy Mass, after which the priest carries the Blessed Sacrament in a solemn procession along the streets, administering benediction to worshipers. An altar boy carrying the cross leads the procession. He is followed by: other altar boys, First Communion children, girls throwing flowers, the priest with the Blessed Sacrament and finally all the celebrants. Four altars are prepared along the route of a procession and adorned with flowers and carpets. Houses are decorated with holy images and streets festooned with green branches. With the worshippers singing fervently and praying to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, the procession slowly walks through the streets. It is a very important event for Catholics. The ceremonies of the Octave of Corpus Christi last for the whole week, but the procession is organized around the church and fewer people participate. On the last day of the Octave of Corpus Christi youngest participants receive sweets from the parish priest.
