The Stobrawski Landscape Park was established by a regulation no P/11/99 issued by the Governor of the Opolskie Province. It covers an area of 52,636.5 ha located in 12 municipalities: Dobrze? Wielki, D?browa, Kluczbork, Laskowice Wielkie, Lewin Brzeski, Lubsza, ?ubniany, Murów, Pokój, Popielów, ?wierczów and Wo?czyn. Its natural assets make it one of the most valuable and one of the longest woodland areas in the lowland of southern Poland. The Stobrawski park is a very large lowland park that protects particularly valuable natural areas. The main reasons for the creation of the Park were: the presence of numerous protected and threatened plant species, as well as plant and animal communities; the presence of one of the biggest dune lands and ecosystems typical for large rivers: numerous oxbow lakes, Tilio cordatae-Carpinetum betuli, alder groves, riparian woodlands and alluvial meadows; the presence of bird refuges of international significance; high forestation rate of the area, including woodlands diversified in terms of the number of species and habitats; low population density and low level of industrialisation. There are 38 protected plant species in the Park, as well as 38 rare plant species, 11 of which are considered threatened in Poland and 3 in Europe. Out of these 3 threatened species, the water fern “salvinia natans - floating watermoss” and the annual water plant “trapa natans – water chestnut”, can be found in the Brzeg municipality. In addition, there are many protected, vulnerable and rare birds as well as protected animals in the Park; their habitats are important in the whole of Lower Silesia. Activities banned in the Park include: waste and sewage dumping, construction and extension of existing facilities, Roman snail picking, regulation of rivers and streams, trade, construction and development of communication lines and routes.
