Staw Hutniczy (Steelworks Pond)

designation:

Zawadzkie - Zawadzkie Municipality,

short description:

A pond created as a result of a steelworks canal construction.

detailed description:

It is undoubtedly the most interesting angling spot in the municipality and one of the most interesting ones in the entire province. The Steelworks Pond is a 15 ha water body swarming with almost every kind of fish: roach, crucian, carp, grass carp, perch, and pike. The water has not been drained for at least half a century but fish were restocked regularly. As a result, each year anglers catch 15 kilogramme carp and record pike as the one caught by Krzysztof Bogdo? in 1996, a 12 kilogramme dragon of a fish. The angling spot is not for everyone though – vast expanses of water lilies may increase the aesthetic value of the pond, but they also restrict access to all but the true angling artists. Those who do have the gift of a natural born angler will find the ponds a place of excitement unparalleled elsewhere.
