Detailed description:

St. Anna Mountain is an important place for historians. Between May 21 and May 26 1921, it was a scene of a battle for St. Anna Mountain during the Third Silesian Uprising. The mountain, which was in the hands of Silesians, was attacked by the Oberland Freikorps from Bavaria from Oleszyce hill located north of the mountain. After Upper Silesia was partitioned in 1921, St. Anna Mountain remained within the German borders. When the Second World War ended a mausoleum monument on the mountain was blown up and replaced by the Monument to the Insurgents’ Effort by Professor Xawery Dunikowski. The new monument was to commemorate the Silesian insurgents and the fighting of 1921 between the Poles and the Germans. There are interesting exhibits to be seen in the Museum of the Insurgents’ Effort.
