The is located in the northern part of the Opolskie province (nearly 1/4 of its area) and encompasses an extensive, segmented forest complex of the total area of 118,367 ha, with 19,800 ha belonging to the Lasowice Wielkie Municipality (occupying 94% of its total area) and 2,367 ha to the municipality of Wo?czyn (the area's boundary in the municipality of Wo?czyn runs south to the line of villages of Markotów Du?y, Giera?cice, Brynica, Wierzbica Górna and Duczów Ma?y, mainly along the edge of the forest complexes) and to the municipality of Kluczbork (south of Ba?any). The Stobrawsko-Turawskie Woods are under protection because of their outstanding environmental and landscape assets, attractiveness for tourists and low level of urbanisation. Large forest complexes, indented forest boundary, post-glacial terrain, harmonious landscape abounding in tree-lined alleys, old parks and woodlands and also a number of stands of protected plant and animal species qualify this extensive area for legal protection.
