Lipno Nature and Landscape Complex
Lipno, Niemodlin Municipality
The 18th century landscape park encompassing the oldest and one of the most valuable arboretums in Poland with a total area of ca. 200 ha. Admission free
The “Lipno“ Nature and Landscape Complex, in which the Arboretum is located, lies within the Tu?owice Forest Division, around 2-3 km from the centre of Niemodlin. In the Middle Ages, the area was covered by a Primeval Forest separating Lower Silesia from Upper Silesia. Afterwards, an English landscape park was created in the 17th century. The place provides an excellent opportunity to see many picturesque sites, outstanding natural assets and valuable species of trees and shrubs (the giant thuja, eastern red cedar, false cypress, balsam fir, tulip tree, maidenhair tree, yew-tree, Japanese katsura tree, sweet-gum tree, Colorado Douglas fir, blue spruce, rhododendron, azalea, kalmia, mahonia and dogwood). In order to introduce sightseers to the diversified flora and unique natural and landscape character there as well as to provide them with an opportunity to rest and relax, in the Arboretum a tourist path has been delineated, as well as a natural and educational path in the “Lipno” Natural and Landscape Complex. In the park, there is also a full-size outdoor swimming pool.
