This is one of the most charming spots in the Kolonowskie municipality – a series of moraine elevations covered with old woods and dominated by the Kocia Góra mountain. There is also a meandering string of erstwhile reservoirs, today grown wild, near Smolnica. The place is not often visited by people and Kocia Góra is the dominion of deer, roes, black storks, and ducks. In spring the ponds reverberate with the croaking of thousands of frogs. White water lilies and yellow pond lilies bloom in large numbers and the evening forest is loud with the call of cranes, one of the most beautiful sounds in nature.
