Grafik Reserve
Between Le?nica and Czarnocin
The Grafik Reserve of 27.43 ha is situated between Le?nica and Czarnocin in the area of the St. Anna Mountain Landscape Park.
The reserve is dominated by a 130-year-old beech growing on a thick layer of loess soil which is susceptible to water erosion. There are two forest groups – acidic lowland beech (protected in Poland) and fertile acidic beech. There are also species which are rare and endangered in the region. The name of the reserve derives from Grafik, a stone monument located in the forest. It has the word Filio engraved on it. The inscription commemorates a tragic event. During a hunt, a son of Count Renard from Strzelce Opolskie was shot dead. The Grafik Reserve covers a small valley and has diverse land formations. Some of its many plant varieties are protected. There are also protected mushrooms, the most interesting of which is the giant wood fungus. Bird and mammal species are equally well represented with the buzzard, tawny owl, wood pigeon, green woodpecker, marten, and racoon dog, to name but a few. The area of Czarnocin is the starting point for a lot of crystal clear springs which flow rapidly into the ??cka Woda.
