Environmental education trail “From Jarno?tówek to the Rozdro?e Pod Piekie?kiem crossroads”

designation:

G?ucho?azy Municipality The Pokrzywna - Jarno?tówek route

short description:

Trail leading through numerous rock exposures with a view of the Z?oty Potok gorge.

detailed description:

The trail encompasses a route of 2 kilometres and coincides with the blue hiking trail almost in its entire length. It is marked with a white square and green diagonal. It starts at the edge of the forest on the right-hand side of the road to Pokrzywna, past the bridge over the Z?oty Potok stream. Over the area of nearly 200 sq.m. numerous rock exposures are located. They are popularly called Karliki and are built of phyllites and interbedding metagrey wackes. One of the exposures has been designated as stop No. 1. This is where viewing platforms are formed offering a panorama of the gorge of the Z?oty Potok stream. The surrounding area is covered by a nearly 90-year old, natural mountain forest with European beech, English oak, sycamore, small-leaved linden, Norway spruce and European larch. Likewise, there is also a high number of protected and rare plant species growing in this forest. These are strictly protected lesser butterfly orchid, common periwinkle, common ivy, daphne, as well as partially protected lily of the valley. The trail ends by the Rozdro?e Pod Piekie?kiem crossroads. Piekie?ko is an old quarry left after mining of phyllites. This is the crossing point of two hiking trails – yellow and blue – as well as the green, nature trail.
