Frying chrust during Lent is a traditional occupation of women from the village of Gostomia
Women from the Village Restoration Group in Gostomia, the municipality of Bia?a, fry chrust during Lent. They present their pastries at exhibitions, displays and markets. They organise chrust frying demonstrations, tasting shows and they popularise the frying recipe. The dough is first moulded the same as for dumplings, then should be thoroughly kneaded, wrapped up in foil and left to rise. The rolled up dough should be cut into strips, each piece should be cut through the middle and through the cut one of the ends should be led through. Chrust should be fried in deep oil.
