designation:

Kluczbork, Market Square

short description:

A walking trail in Kluczbork

detailed description:

The walking trail starts in the Market Square. In the middle of what in the past used to be a street market, there is a town hall built in the 18th century, with two front tenement houses remaining of the old Baroque complex of "The Twelve Apostles". Next the route runs along Pi?sudskiego Street, a representative promenade in the town. Here is one of the town’s most precious historical sights: Our Saviour's Gothic church, built in the 14th century, with a magnificent Rococo interior. From the church's observation tower, open to visitors, extends a panoramic view over the town. Next the trail runs along Mickiewicza Street with historical tenement houses, along Pu?awskiego Street, past the defensive walls to Ko?ciuszki Pond. Next along Szpitalna Alley the route leads to the municipal park, which is the largest green area in town. Here are a monument to World War I Casualties and a municipal fountain. On the edge of the park, former marshland, stands the Church of Our Lady, Help of Christians, built at the beginning of the previous century in a characteristic neo-Gothic style. From the park the trail leads to Katowicka Street, next do the roundabout in Niepodleg?o?ci Square, along Krakowska Street and back to the Market Square.
