short text:

In the Upper Carinthian Gitschtal valley, literally the “valley of girls”, we would like to show you a very special water energy spot – the natural monument Mühlschuß. Combined with a leisurely walk, it will take half a day and you’ll experience the unharnessed raw power of water. The waterfall, almost 30 metres high, cascades down from the cliffs into a rocky gorge of which the back (in the east) is formed by three overlapping, protruding walls – a water spectacle of the very special kind!

detailed description:

Bubbling thoughts. A wild and romantic stream originates in the untouched Gösseringgraben and flows for 3.5 kilometres through a well-tended forest. Starting out from our holiday farm at the edge of Weissbriach you walk along the Schwarzenbach stream in northerly direction until you reach the wood construction firm. Once the Schwarzenbach stream flows into the Gössering, it’s time to bring some order into your thoughts. Try to consciously perceive the soothing effect of the flowing water, the bubbling and murmuring of the brook flowing through this magnificent countryside and breathe in and out very deeply for a few times. You’ll notice that the air by the water is much purer than elsewhere!

Flowing energy. After around 30 minutes you’ll reach a second wooden bridge. Try to picture how the water flows underneath you, tumbling away from its source from an altitude of 2,000 metres down into the valley. Have you ever tried to imagine how much unceasing force it takes for the water to make its way through the rocks? Sometimes in darkness, sometimes in the light, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, giving and taking, overcoming obstacles and finding new paths – is it not so that the water of this stream is very much like a symbol of our life? Maybe you’ll manage to pass any thoughts that have been troubling you for a while on to the water!
Stay for a while and only carry on walking when it feels just right to do so. After a half-hour’s walk the path will take you past a conspicuous pointy stone in the water and into the village of Sankt Lorenzen. There you keep left, walk past the village and follow the road that continues steeply uphill to the Catholic church. Behind the last house of the village turn left at the signpost “Mühlschuß-Wasserfall” leading to the waterfall.

Source of life. A wooden bridge with a railing invites you to feel this wonderful spot’s raw natural forces and re-energise yourself. Plant your feet firmly on the bridge facing the waterfall and watch how the water gushes out of the mountain and tumbles down into the rocky pool below. Water – the life-giving element, the foundation of our life on earth! And especially the energy-charged mountain water with high natural oxygen content is ideal for keeping people healthy. Here you are practically at the source of all life.

Re-energised and refreshed you can now start back for the village of Sankt Lorenzen. At the village well on the right-hand side, there is a tarmac road (Trail No 1) called “Stoffelbauerweg” leading to Stoffelbauer, a country pub, where you should stop and have a snack. We warmly recommend the Carinthian Speckjause (farmer’s snack with bacon) and for dessert the delicious homemade Topfentorte (cheese cake). The farm animals here enjoy being petted by children. To return to holiday farm Memmer, follow Trail No. 1 for half an hour until you reach Weissbriach.
