Hop on your bike and follow the marked Drau bicycle trail. Setting out from our farm, you head east and pass through the villages Dieschitz, Sankt Egyden and straight through the beautiful Drau floodplain. Remember to frequently take a look at this lovely river and listen to the birds chirping around you. Before you reach Treffen, choose the path by the River Drau, ride through the woods and through the village of Selkach. At the end of the village you’ll already be able to see the artificially designed grassy hill: today’s destination.

PYRAMID BY THE DRAU. The Zikkurat was built in the year 2001 following the instructions of the Hoke brothers (www.hoke.at) - and named after the flattened step-pyramid-shaped temple in Mesopotamia (ziggurat). On top of the artificial hill there is a pool of water supplied by the river Drau (the pump is driven by wind power). But what on earth is it for? Its intention is to offer you new horizons by interacting with different perspectives and landscape shapes. The mountains of the Karawanken range are mirrored in the water on top of the hill, yet they are upside down and in miniature. There are a few stones in the water – you can use them to balance “above the mountaintops”. 

SOUND OF SILENCE. Try out different perspectives; take off your shoes and feel the grass, stones and water with your feet and hands. Then make yourself comfortable and sit down on the wooden bench at the foot of the hill or lie down in the grass and enjoy the wonderful silence radiating from this special spot in the middle of the countryside. All you will hear is the soft murmuring of the river Drau. Close your eyes and try to perceive everything with your ears only. After a few minutes you will notice: silence, too, is something you can “hear”.

After a pleasant time of rest and relaxation surrounded by nature you can now set out on your way back to our holiday farm.
