short text:

Nestling between the Carnic Alps in the south and the Lienzer Dolomites in the north you will find the Lesachtal valley in the southwest of Carinthia. It runs in parallel to the Italian-Austrian state border. In 1995, the valley received the award for being “Europe’s most environmentally friendly and most natural Alpine valley”. We also take a lot of pride in a well preserved monastery garden belonging to the Saint Mary Pilgrimage Church and Basilica Maria Luggau, where we would like to take you to a 120-year-old natural monument. The experience will take about 3 hours.

detailed description:

FAMILY TREE. Setting out from our farm, you drive in the direction of Sankt Lorenzen and continue to Maria Luggau. There is a good place to park your car in front of the Basilica. In the back of the Basilica there is a door on the left-hand side that leads to the monastery. Go through the corridor to the first floor where you will find the prior’s office. Ask for the key of the monastery garden.
You’ll be able to see the imposing tree, a beech, from afar. Greet the tree by placing your hand on one of its trunks and hug it if you feel like it.
Can you see what an extraordinary tree this is? Six small beeches have grown together over the course of many years, making it look as if it were a single tree. Imagine you have grown roots into the soil just like this tree. Deep and strong roots are vital to be able to cope with wind and weather and the things human beings are faced with.
In our lives we have often had to learn that little can be achieved as a single person. But together with others a lot is possible: “Team up with others” – perhaps that was what these beeches wanted to do? At least, these are the thoughts that come into my mind.

ENERGY SOURCE. Now lean on one of the trunks and close your eyes. Imagine how you melt into the trunk, first your back and then your whole body until you are one. Breathe in deeply for a few times and let the energy of the tree flow into your body. Remember, you have all the time in the world, so enjoy this experience as long as you like. Then open your eyes again and slowly separate from the tree. Say thank you to the tree in whichever way you want.

You will feel different when you leave the monastery garden. Please don’t forget to bring back the key, so that the garden can be locked.

SWEET SOUNDING. If you like, visit the new humming stone in the local band’s rehearsal room. This stone is a young invention and represents two global gestures. One hand is held in front of the mouth like a funnel to amplify one’s own voice and the other hand is cupped behind the ear, to amplify the sound. The stone could also easily be interpreted as a symbol of human perception: It is impossible for us to process or respond to all influences and information we are exposed to. Only those influences we can identify with, that have our vibrations, have a chance of resonance. Place your head into the hole of the humming stone and hum at different pitches. The tone that you feel most comfortable with is your tone. Relax and open yourself up to its harmony until it has taken grip of your whole body. This harmony will increase your positive mood even further.

Cheerful, re-energised and humming your very own special tone you can now return to our farm the same way you came.
