Detailed description:

Ro? (in Italian Rozzo) is a tiny town with a population of only 180 people, located 8 km southeast of Buzet, on the road Koper — U?ka tunnel — Rijeka. Ro? was also called Ruz, Ronz and Rozzo. Ro? is considered a town rather than a village due to its rich cultural heritage. It was historically known as the focus of the Istrian Glagolitism. The first Croatian printed book, the Missal of 1483, was prepared in Ro? by Juri Žakan. The town of Ro? is declared by the authorities as an important cultural monument, as it has a well preserved city walls from the Middle Ages with two entrances, a Roman lapidarium, a Venetian bombarda cannon and a functional watchtower. Furthermore, three religious buildings with medieval frescos (the church of St. Anton from the 12th, St. Rok from the 14th and St. Bertol from the 15th century) and a small ethnological park with musical instruments (harmonica, contrabass, clarinet and violin) made by the excellent sculptor Šime Vidulin, attract a lot of attention to many visitors. Seven kilometers from Ro? is Hum, with a population of only 15 people often called the smallest town in the world. And there, along the road from Ro? to Hum is a memorial avenue of ten monuments from the history of the Glagolitic alphabet.
