Palace and park complex

Detailed description:

The Trawniki Palace Complex consists of a palace and a park extending on the area of 1.7 ha. The Trawniki knightly estate, owned by Henry Larisch von Nimsdorf, was first mentioned in 1538. Probably at that time the Renaissance manor house was built and surrounded by a decorative garden. Until the mid-19th century the estate often changed hands. In1859 Franz von Wallhofen, having dismantled the 16th-century manor house of the von Nimsdorf family, started building a new palace and laying out a new park. After the war the partly damaged palace was inhabited by repatriated families. Reconstruction work was carried out until 1958, when the palace was turned into an institution for the blind run by the Pallottine Sisters from Gda?sk. At the end of October 1974 the blind were moved to the castle in Szymiszów, as Trawniki was to undergo major repairs, which never actually started. In 1981 Stanis?aw Pyszczek tried to acquire the estate, doing basic conservation work. Until 1993 the palace and park did not have an owner. Later the municipality sold it to two companies from Katowice. At present the estate belongs to the DRUMET company from W?oc?awek.
