Statue of Colonna
KOLONOWSKIE
In return for hosting Count Philip Collona during his hunts, Heising, the parish priest of Kielcza, received 14 acres of the land bordering on the parish.
When news of Count Philip’s death reached him, he ordered a statue to be made in his memory. Until 1945 the statue stood under an oak in the Kielcza parish. Found by father Wolfgang Globisch, it can be seen today on the church square in Kolonowskie. The beginnings of the Kolonowskie settlement are strictly connected with the person of Count Philip Colonna, the master of the Strzeleckie land. It was on his initiative that a metallurgical furnace was constructed in 1780 on the Bziniczka, the right tributary of the Ma?a Panew. The furnace was soon surrounded by a settlement of 24 houses built for officials and workers. In 1797 the settlement took the name of Colonnowska from the name of its patron and founder. Today the statue of Philip Colonna stands near the parish church in Kolonowskie.
