“D?BINA” Nature Reserve
Grodków Municipality, Tu?owice Forest Division
Dry-ground forest and riverside carr, a fragment of the former "Niemodli?ska Primeval Forest".
The reserve was created for the purpose of protecting the nationally rare dry-ground forest of the ramsons variety, preserved also in the natural condition. It is a living memento of the Niemodli?ska Primeval Forest once thriving here. The trees, aged 120-160 years, are mainly of the oak, ash and linden. Also, the red oak, hornbeam, larch, maple, sycamore and spruce occur here. In the shrub layer, there appear spindle-trees, black elders and saplings of the birch, linden and bird cherry. Marginally, the poplar and willow riverside carr also occur here. A great feature of the local flora is the common snowdrop, growing in fields. Searching for similar abundance in other areas of the Opole region is pointless. Of the protected species in “D?bina” the cowslip (Primula officinalis) and the alder buckthorn may be found here, and of the rare plants – the Solomon’s seal, ramsons and tuberrous comfrey. The enormous specimens of oaks and ashes, reaching 150 cm of diameter at breast height highlight the age-old character of that community and guard the stability of the forest ecosystem.
