Ruins of the early medieval castle on the Castle Hill.
Dobieszów
Ruins of the early medieval castle on the Castle Hill in Dobieszów, a former seat of Knight Dobiesz.
Ruins of the early medieval castle on the top of the Castle Hill are under protection of the provincial conservator of historical monuments. The Castle Hill is located on the route Dobieszów - Opawica, about 3 km from Dobieszów, on the left side behind the forest, along which there runs a dirt road, marked as a yellow trail. The road leads to another one, which enters a forest; the forest road is covered with slate and goes to the lake and further on to the hilltop. A former moat is well preserved, albeit at places broken by trenches from World War II. It was a German pocket of resistance against the Red Army, defending the access to Krnov. Legend has it that the medieval town on the Castle Hill was ruled by Knight Dobiesz. Another folk tale claims that there is some underground passage between the Castle Hill and Cvilin in Czech Krnov.
