Dish – farmhouse butter
Mionów
Women from the Silesian Women Association in Mionów, the municipality of G?ogówek, produce farmhouse butter on farms.
Butter belongs in the milk products group. In order to make butter, cream should be separated from milk. It is done through centrifuging. Then, the cream should be frothed up, manually - in a butter churn or mechanically - in a butter centrifuge. As a result of beating butter appears, as well as a by-product – buttermilk (in dairies it is a problem waste, in a farm it is a delicacy as an addition to free bread or potatoes). Butter is an all-Poland traditional product made in the past in villages, and now its production has been abandoned due to the large supply of butter coming from dairies. Women from the Silesian Women Association in Mionów organise demonstrations of butter production, promote the production recipe and the interested people may taste the scents and flavours of that traditional product.
