The construction of the church is connected with a legend about the miraculous powers of the water from a nearby spring. According to this legend, it can treat eye disorders and fever. Locals believe that these powers were vested in the spring by the chalice which was found in the water and had previously disappeared, together with the painting of Our Lady of Cz?stochowa, from the monastery of Jasna Góra in mid 18th century. Another legend has it that a long time ago there was a plague ravaging the town. A lot of people living in Ujazd died of it. Pilgrims begged Virgin Mary for help promising that they will go on a pilgrimage each year. This tradition has survived until the present day. Every year in July, there is a fair in Studzionka with pilgrims from the entire deanery participating.
