Mieczys?aw Or?owicz Sudety trail
Paczków Municipality
Section of the main hiking Sudety trail going through the area of Paczków district.
The Mieczys?aw Or?owicz Main Sudety Trail is a continuous hiking trail marked as red. It leads from ?wieradów-Zdrój to Prudnik through the most attractive parts of the Sudety mountains. An idea of such a trail emerged at a meeting of the Sudety Committe of the Polish Tatra Society in 1947. In 1973 the trail was named after Mieczys?aw Or?owicz, a Polish geographer and enthusiast of tourism, in recognition of his accomplishments for tourism and sightseeing. With time the trail has undergone a number of modifications. At present, it starts in ?wieradów Zdrój, leads through the Jizera Mountains (Wysoka Kopa, Wysoki Kamie?) to Szklarska Por?ba, then through the Karkonosze (Waterfall of Kamie?czyk, Wielki Szyszak, the Prze??cz pod ?nie?k? pass) to Karpacz. The subsequent branch go from Rudawy Janowickie (Skalnik) to Krzeszów, across the Kamienne Mountains and the Czarne Mountains to Jedlina-Zdrój; the Sowie Mountains (Wielka Sowa), and the Prze??cz Srebrna pass. The trail then leads to another place of interest - Wambierzyce and from there to the Sto?owe Mountains (Skalne Grzyby, B??dne Ska?y) to reach such Sudety resorts as Kudowa-Zdrój and Duszniki-Zdrój. The trail then continues through the Orlice Mountains, the Bystrzyca Mountains, Krowiarki, the Massif of ?nie?nik, the Wilczki waterfall, the town of L?dek-Zdrój, and the Z?ote Mountains. The trail ends in Prudnik at the foot of the Opava Mountains. As the route of the trail proves, our region may be both the starting point of an excursion across the Sudety mountains or the final point of a long hike. One way or another, the Mieczys?aw Or?owicz hiking trail is worth spending leisure time on. Total length of the trail: 350 kilometres.
