detailed description:

This partly-protected reserve with an area of 26.15 ha was established in 1958. It constitutes one of the two floristic reserves in the Opole region. For scientific, didactic and landscape reasons it became a conservation area including a pond with a stand of the water chestnut Trapa natans (a representative of a protected species of water plants) and the natural forest adjoining the reservoir. The reserve is home to a number of protected and rare floristic species, such as the round-leaved sundew, the marsh Labrador tea, the buckbean and others. Fauna is represented by numerous bird species, including the black stork, the European kingfisher, the green woodpecker, the mute swan, the water rail. The Budkowiczanka river flowing through the reserve is inhabited by beavers and otters.
