Neo-baroque Church in Krasiejów

designation:

Ozimek Municipality,

short description:

A beautiful Neo-baroque Catholic church built in 1911 – 1913

Detailed description:

Elements of its interior (the organ, altars, and the pulpit) were made in the Bavarian town of Regensburg. The side altar comes from the previous church. In the side altar there is a copy of the painting of Our Lady of Cz?stochowa from the 18th century. We do not have any solid records to establish the date when the first church in Krasiejów was constructed. However, bearing in mind that the village is one of the oldest in the Opolskie province (it is mentioned as early as 1292), we can estimate that a church was already there somewhere around the 13th or 14th century. The estimate is not backed by any solid proof, though. The present Neo-baroque church is comparatively recent. It was built in 1911 – 1913. However, part of it is much older – its side altar is dated to the 17th century with some sculptures dating back to the 16th century. The organ, the pulpit, and the high altar come from Regensburg.
