Tapestries from Bia?a Nyska
Bia?a Nyska
Hand woven tapestries.
Tapestries are woven by Bronis?awa Czarny. She has been fascinated by fabric, and specifically hand woven tapestries. In her opinion “fabric is soft to the touch, adds warmth to the interior and brings tranquility. I have been weaving tapestries for 10 years now, with varied intensity. Their subjects differ. I like weaving flowers, landscapes, but also abstract forms, which unlike realistic forms, are quicker to weave and conducive to improvisation. I use wool and various types of yarns. I dye them myself to get such colours as I need to make a specific tapestry. The whole work is based on a warp made of thick, coarse threads. I weave larger forms in the Art Centre in Nysa on a loom, whereas smaller ones on my frame at home. Tapestries from Bia?a Nyska have already been on display on a number of exhibitions, such as: regional exhibitions, Exhibitions of Folk Art and Handicraft of the Polish and Czech Borderland in Prudnik, Paczków, in the Opole Philharmonic, the Nysa Museum, exhibitions held during the Summer of Flowers in Otmuchów, as well as at Pozna? Fairs. Tapestry-weaving gives me satisfaction, teaches how to stay patient, and calms me down. Of course, the result of the work brings me great joy, when I can look at my work as a whole at last”.
