The soup is also known as 'warmuszka', 'biermuszka' or bread soup. It is delicate, nourishing and cheap. It is made on the basis of cooked bread, sometimes passed through a sieve, and butter, to which a whisked egg or yolk is folded in. The soup is seasoned with caraway seeds and salt. It may also be made with dried or fresh apples, plums and pears or cooked on milk. With the addition of cream, the soup is more delicate and creamy.
