Educational trail
Kolonowskie - Staniszcze Ma?e Municipality
The trail is marked out in forests and meadows and is attractive even for those biologists who are knowledgeable about the natural environment of the Opolskie province
This is one of the few places in the province and in Poland where the large copper butterfly resides. There are also numerous wasp spiders which are arguably the most beautiful spiders in Poland. On the trail, one can also find the famous Stoczek spring. educational trail in Staniszcze Ma?e cuts through areas of natural interest rich in fauna and flora most of which are protected. The trail is marked with symbols painted on solid objects such as trees, pylons, and boulders. In addition, at the fork of the road, there are information boards and road signs. The trail begins at the Staniszcze Ma?e railway station and has four educational stops on the way: Stop 1 – Wet meadows Stop 2 – Szczyrkowiska Stop 3 – The Stoczek spring Stop 4 – Rural arboretum The contents of the information boards were written by Krzysztof Spa?ek, PhD, a biologist from the University of Opole. Near the point of departure, at the Staniszcze Ma?e railway station, there is an information board measuring 100x150 cm. The board displays a town plan of Staniszcze Ma?e and the educational trail itself. It also briefly describes the town’s history and instructs those who want to use the trail. For every information board, special frames had been made thanks to which it is possible to mount the boards on the trail. The frames had been made voluntarily by the members of the Association for the Renewal of Staniszcze Ma?e. The material was provided by the Zawadzkie Forest District Office. In Stop 4 (Rural arboretum) the following have been set up: - herb garden - mini botanical garden - children playground constructed with the use of natural objects (the willow tunnel, the branch shack) - a place of rest and learning in the form of a wooden shelter measuring 4.4m x 5,6m) - four species groves (lime, maple, acacia, birch) with information boards including basic information on a given tree species.
