Bicycle trail around Lakes Turawskie.

designation:

Lake Medium – Lake Small - Szczedrzyk - Jedlice - Antoninek - Turawa – Lake Medium

short description:

26 km bicycle trip.

detailed description:

Trail length: 26 km Time necessary for covering the distance at a moderate pace without resting: 2h Suggested bicycle type: trekking Surface – mainly hard dirt roads and forest roads; several asphalt sections You will cycle practically all the time along forest and field roads, so the trip can be recommended to everyone – to a hardened cyclist as well as to whole families who will decide to spend some time together in an active way. At the lake, you can sunbathe on the beach, take a splash in the water, go on a boat trip, or throw a barbecue party. What is worth seeing? When in Turawa it is worth seeing the old historic palace and stop for a while at the dam of the hydro-electric power station. We set off on our trip at the fork of the trails (the pedestrian and the bicycle one) between the medium and the small lake. How to get to this place from Opole has been suggested in the description of the trail leading to the medium lake and in the “Piknik na Rybaczówce” tourist leaflet. We head towards the small lake and follow the trail along the bank. During most of our trip the yellow markings of the tourist trail, which also runs along the lake, will be helpful. This year, several cycle trails have also been marked, so our trip will overlap a few sections of these trails. Along the way, we pass numerous vacation centres and small eating places which tempt visitors with their multitude of smells in summer. In Szczedrzyk, we follow a field road at the foot of the embankment all the way to the buildings of the Jedlice pumping station where we turn slightly away from the lake to the right and reach the town of Jedlice with its well-known glassworks. We cross the bridge over the Ma?a Panew, then turn left, pass the last of the buildings, enter the forest, and right past a small bridge over a spring turn left into a narrow path (the markings of the trail can be found at the end of the railing on the left). This section of our trip is one of the most pleasant. We cycle along an open, pleasant path with the lake somewhere to our left which we can reach if we want to by turning into one of many forest paths. After about 2 km, we enter the deep forest and continue along an equally nice and peaceful forest path. We reach the cross-roads with an asphalt road next to the PKS (Polish Coach Service) terminal (the stop is called Turawa, the Great Lake or Antoninek). On the left, opposite the terminal, there is a board with the information about tourist trails around the lake. We can see the road to the town of Dylaki in front. Turning left towards numerous tourist centres, we reach one of the most well-known lake areas with most of the centres established around it. The place is impossible to miss. In season, it is always full of people, stands and eating places. It also has a well-known promenade. The trail continues along the promenade and so do we. If the number of tourists on the promenade makes it impossible to cycle, we would be wise to get off our bikes and walk with them on this short section of our trip. We could take this opportunity to have a longer rest or just continue to the equally famous Rybaczówa promontory situated not far away. From Rybaczówka, we continue for a bit along the main road towards Turawy to turn left after several hundred metres in the direction of the Hydro-Electric Power Station in Turawa. Then we take the path at the foot of the embankment and, later, the asphalt road towards the medium lake. Leaving the embankment behind (and the front of a dam), we also leave the asphalt road and enter a deep forest path again. After reaching the point between the great and the medium lake, we turn right and go around the medium lake. This, again, is an opportunity to pass different tourist centres and places where one can stop, eat, drink, or simply rest. We finish our trip where we set off, completing a circle around the Turawskie lakes.
